Our Approach
PVMC is an alternative educational provision situated within the London borough of Newham. Predominantly working with a wide range of young people with learning difficulties or challenging behaviour, we offer personalised education in line with the academic and vocational curriculums, and offer the necessary support to meet the needs of the students referred to us. We believe that it is not only fundamental that young people who are removed from mainstream schools are still in some form of education in the right environment in order for them to develop into independent young adults whilst aiming to identify and overcome the barriers that have prohibited their development. PVMC will endeavour to support and reintegration these young people back into mainstream school or work towards accessing training or employment.
Our Story
PVMC is firmly commitment to the values and principles of equality of opportunity and diversity. We recognise that each individual is unique and recognise our individual differences. These can be along the dimensions of race, gender, ethnicity, religion, etc. We are committed to ensuring that our facilities are conducive to teaching and learning, thus helping our young people achieve their potential and learn to value their individual strengths, similarities and differences. For this reason, we work closely with external professionals and organisations to further promote our ambitions.

GOVERNANCE
PVMC is governed by a board of governors who are responsible for the strategic overview of all educational activities within the centre. These responsibilities include directing the centre and associated services in line with the academic curriculum, ensuring a consistently high quality and standard of education is being delivered.
The Head of Centre and the Head of service manage the Centre daily running of programme. They ensure the smooth running of the centre by making sure the students are receiving excellent care, good guidance and support to attain their best is accessible to them. The Board is also responsible for appointing our senior staff.
Our Board of Governors comprises 6 members, two of whom are members of staff. The Governors are all professional with a wide variety of business and professional interests. They are individuals who are very successful in areas other than education, and this enables them to bring a ‘critical friend’ and broader perspective to the leadership and direction of the Centre.
The Centre’s Board and staff have earned themselves over the years a wealth of experiences in business and training in both the private and public sectors. These skills will serve well to equip and empower our young people with life-long skills for work and life.
